About

Hey, I’m Nick.

I’m a data consultant and engineer based in New York City, working at the intersection of data infrastructure, cloud systems, and business outcomes. My work spans everything from batch and streaming pipelines to CI/CD architecture, ML infrastructure, and stakeholder engagement—often under pressure, often in environments without clear boundaries.

I’ve led globally distributed teams to deliver highly scalable data solutions, and I’m just as comfortable writing Terraform as I am rewriting documentation, managing vendor relationships, or walking non-technical teams through complex systems. I believe the best engineers understand both architecture and execution—and never flinch when it’s time to get in the weeds.

I’ve helped financial services and insurance orgs modernize data systems, automate renewals and workflows, and unlock real value with lean, production-ready platforms. These wins aren’t just technical—they come from seeing the whole board, aligning with business priorities, and delivering consistently, even in ambiguity.

My mindset is shaped by a few core beliefs: pressure is a privilege, responsibility should be earned, and if you're not learning or building something that matters, you’re treading water. I focus on what’s actionable. I reduce complexity to the smallest implementable unit. I believe in setting standards and holding others (and myself) to them.

Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to poke around, or drop me a line at nick.tran@nyu.edu if you want to talk data, systems, or solving hard problems.
